## Summary

Health Education England is soliciting tenders for "The Development and Delivery of Peer Education and Coaching for Families (Autism)." This project falls under the services category with a classification focused on education and training services. It aims to enhance the skills of families, personal assistants, and small care providers to better support autistic individuals, particularly during the transition period following Covid-19. The tender was published on 6th August 2020, with a closing date for submissions on 26th August 2020. The awarded contract, valued at £43,780, commenced on 18th January 2021 and will conclude on 31st March 2021, following an open procurement method.

This tender presents significant opportunities for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and voluntary, community, and social enterprises (VCSEs) that specialise in educational training, peer support, and autism-related services. Businesses equipped to design and deliver remote education and coaching are particularly encouraged to participate. By engaging in this initiative, firms can not only enhance their service offerings but also contribute to the welfare of families and caregivers during a critical transition period, positioning themselves as key players in the growing sector of autism support and education.

## Notice

This project seeks to provide education to families, personal assistants and small independent care providers, delivered in partnership by peer educators and subject matter experts. The aim of the work is to support the development of peer coaching and training to provide learning and resources which will upskill the families and carers through the period of transition into restart and the new future after Covid-19. The education should be developed for families as a priority but should also be relevant to Personal Assistants and small support providers. It will contribute to the reduction of the potential for unnecessary admissions for autistic people of all ages whose distressed behaviours may otherwise lead to hospital admission by giving families and carers the knowledge, skills and support to use appropriate strategies to prevent crisis escalation. This is an approach to remote education and coaching provision which is designed to reduce the pressure on stretched families and support the interventions service providers offer. It recognises that coaching from other (peer) family members is uniquely valued, especially where accompanied by input from subject matter experts. Funding of up to PS45K is available to be awarded to an organisation, or partnership of organisations, which can start work immediately to design, develop and deliver education and coaching as outlined within the specification.
