## Summary

The University of Bristol is currently undertaking a selective tender for the "Contract for the Design, Manufacture, Supply and Installation of a Composite Integrity and Verification Cell." This procurement falls under the machinery industry, specifically miscellaneous general and special-purpose machinery, and is located in Bristol, England. The tender period is set to end on 30th August 2017, with the contract period expected to run from 8th January 2018 to 7th January 2019. The initiative aims to enhance the National Composites Centre's capacity in automated non-destructive testing and metrology, making this a crucial opportunity for businesses in relevant sectors.

This tender presents significant growth opportunities for businesses in the engineering and manufacturing sectors, particularly those with expertise in automated inspection technologies and composite materials. Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and voluntary, community, and social enterprises (VCSEs) are encouraged to compete, as the procurement aims to foster innovation and collaboration in developing advanced capabilities. Businesses that can provide flexible, scalable solutions with the potential for future technology upgrades will be particularly well-positioned to succeed in this procurement process.

## Notice

The requirement for large scale automated non-destructive testing (NDT) and metrology has been identified as a key element of the current capability expansion of the NCC to support existing and future research and manufacturing programs. The capability shall be specified, procured and commissioned to ensure suitability for industrial research and development programs as well as supporting maturation of emerging inspection technologies from academia toward industrial application. The capability should consist of an automated cell capable of using various off-the-shelf equipment to perform automated inspection procedures on a range of composite components and assemblies. Following the completion of this procurement activity, the initial technologies to be supplied and integrated into the cell are through transmission and pulse echo ultrasound (UT). A key requirement is that the cell is designed to be flexible with mechanical and control systems suitable for future technology additions and upgrades.
