The recovered horse/s must be transported to a secure location and dealt with in accordance with the procedure outlined in the horse recovery process. Once detained by the Contractor, the horse shall only be the responsibility of the Authority for a maximum of 21 days, within which time attempts will be made to identify the owner of the horse. Where the horse's owner cannot be found, the Authority will only be liable for the costs of medical or other services that are necessary for the horse's wellbeing within the initial 21-day (maximum) period. Proof of expenditure will be required to authorise payments such as supply of an invoice from Veterinary practices which must provide detail of the horse and procedure, or items utilised.
