## Summary

The contracting authority, Public Health England, is currently inviting tenders for the project titled "PHE - Screening - Performance Monitoring of Breast Screening Equipment." This procurement falls within the medical equipment industry category and is based in London, UK, with various delivery addresses across regions. The procurement stage is at the tender phase, with the submission deadline set for 5th September 2018. The total contract value is estimated at £200,000, and the contract period is scheduled to commence on 17th September 2018 and conclude on 16th September 2020. The process is being conducted through an open procurement method, allowing for wider participation.

This tender presents significant opportunities for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and voluntary, community, and social enterprises (VCSEs) that specialise in medical equipment and performance monitoring services. Businesses that can demonstrate technical expertise in assessing and monitoring breast screening equipment, as well as those involved in quality assurance services, will be well-positioned to compete successfully. Engaging in this tender could help suppliers gain a foothold in the NHSBSP and potentially lead to further contracts within the public health sector.

## Notice

To ensure that new equipment which reaches the market is fit for purpose, which includes dose minimisation whilst achieving excellent diagnostic quality for image reporting, the Authority requires the assurance from the Supplier that the equipment meets the requirements of its specification and is acceptable for use in the NHSBSP from a technical perspective. Following this, a practical evaluation is undertaken at a screening service to assess whether the equipment meets programme requirements. This activity should be supported by the Supplier. On-going monitoring and collation of equipment used in the breast screening programme is required from the Supplier which is attained through the national collection of equipment fault reports and also key performance indicators for medical physicists. This information is shared with the Authority and summary information on equipment faults feedback to manufacturers, the screening quality assurance service and programme managers within PHE to help ensure that equipment is fit for purpose and manufacturers can respond to programme requirements.
