## Summary

The procurement process involves Brunel University London, which is seeking to acquire a Pressure Filtration Cleanliness Analyser for its Brunel Centre for Advanced Solidification Technology (BCAST) located in Uxbridge, England. The tender period is set to conclude on 8 March 2017. This contract, valued at £72,000, falls under the 'Electrical materials' industry category and is currently at the award stage, with the successful supplier being HOESCH Metallugie GmbH. The contract commencement date is slated for April 3, 2017, and will run until December 31, 2017.

This opportunity presents a lucrative avenue for suppliers in the materials and engineering sectors, particularly those with expertise in manufacturing equipment for metallurgical testing and analysis. Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) that can provide standardised products tailored to assessment capabilities in aluminium and magnesium alloys would be ideal candidates. Participation in this tender could lead to further developments in collaboration with academic institutions and expansion within research and industrial applications.

## Notice

Further to the successful development of the AMCC 1 programme in the Brunel Centre for Advanced Solidification Technology (BCAST) at Brunel University London (BRUNEL), the second phase development (AMCC 2) is now being established to expand this unique national facility for light metal research in processing and characterisation for fundamental research and industrial applications. Together with the EPSRC Future Liquid Metal Engineering Hub, and AMCC1, AMCC 2 will provide high performance light alloys, resource efficient manufacturing technologies and component innovations with advanced materials characterisation facilities to meet the long- and mid-term needs of UK industry. The initiative is funded by the Higher Education Funding Council for England (HEFCE), and supported by a number of industrial partners. Funding for equipment at the AMCC 2 is available in the period up to 31st March 2017 to assist in establishing the new facilities at Brunel University London in Uxbridge. The equipment will be purchased by BRUNEL. A pressure filtration cleanliness analyser is required for consistent assessment of Aluminium and Magnesium alloy melts for inclusion content such as refractory contamination and naturally occurring oxide particles and films. Based on the assessment characteristics, capability of the equipment to assess the impact of melt quality on fluidity is also required together with some capability of predicting defect formation during and after mould filling for real castings. The equipment should be a standard fully developed product with capabilities mentioned above, without having the need for us to customise for our needs.
