We would like to take the opportunity to do some soft market testing to determine current interest levels in the market. Reading Borough Council is seeking to engage with both Care and Housing Providers with an interest in Extra Care services. We are reviewing our current model of Extra Care and would value feedback from providers, both in and out of the Reading area, to assist in the development of a specification for a future procurement. Currently, we have 7 Extra Care schemes in the Reading area. There are 416 flats across these schemes. Although most are available to rent, leasehold and shared ownership properties are also available. These are predominantly for older people (age 55 years and over) who are still able to live independently with a care and support package. Emergency support is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Activities and housing related support are also provided via background hours (known as floating support). Please refer to our In-Tend portal where a questionnaire is available for download and completion as part of our market engagement exercise Additional information: This process does not constitute a formal tender or other competitive bidding process and will not result in the letting of a Contract. The commissioners are using this process solely to test the market to gather information and ascertain the level of interest in this type of service.
