The Government's ambition to drive up standards in schools requires a strong supply of high quality teachers and leaders at all levels. The evidence is clear that the quality of teachers is the most important school-level factor in determining pupil outcomes , and this is particularly the case for pupils from disadvantaged backgrounds, where the difference between a good or poor teacher can amount to a whole year's worth of education . Effective leadership is also crucial, but this is not yet widespread, systematic or consistent. The Department for Education (DfE) is committed to supporting pupil social mobility, and to do this by improving teaching and leadership in priority areas and priority schools through high quality, effective professional development. This is the Standard Selection Questionnaire (SSQ) to be used by the DfE for selecting suitable Candidates to be invited to tender for delivery of the Teaching and Leadership Innovation Fund DfE wants to encourage applications from a range of providers to promote innovation and to support the development of a sustainable market. We are looking to fund both small and large providers, including school-based providers. To this end, the procurement will have three lots: * Lot 1 - bids of contract value PS0 to a maximum of PS999,999. * Lot 2 - bids of contract value PS1,000,000 to a maximum of PS9,999,999. * Lot 3 - bids for the new High Potential Middle Leaders programme up to a value of PS15,750,000 Additional information: The Department for Education will be utilising its own e-Tendering portal.
