## Summary

The Ministry of Defence has conducted a public procurement process under the Defence Equipment Support (DES), specifically through the Power, Propulsion and Auxiliaries (PPA) Team, to facilitate a Framework Agreement for the maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) of Royal Naval platforms. This procurement lies within the industry category of repair and maintenance services of warships (CPV 50640000) and covers regions including the British Overseas Territories, Channel Islands, Europe, Isle of Man, and the United Kingdom among others. The procurement method was a selective, restricted procedure above threshold, in accordance with DSPCR 2011 regulations. This framework, which extends to 31 March 2031 with a potential value of £317 million, recently saw a competitive mini-competition for mechanical system items, with the call-off contract initiated on 22 May 2025 and concluding on 15 January 2026. The process is currently at the award stage, having been concluded with Basetek Limited as the supplier.

This framework offers extensive opportunities for businesses within the maritime servicing industry, particularly those capable of providing robust maintenance and repair solutions for sophisticated naval systems. Given its important role in supporting the Royal Navy, businesses that thrive on innovation and have a track record of handling complex Defence contracts will find this framework beneficial. The procurement is especially inviting for small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and voluntary, community and social enterprises (VCSEs), given their eligibility and capability to adapt to framework requirements. Engaging in such a contract can significantly boost a company's profile and establish long-term partnerships within Defence sectors, ultimately fostering business growth.
