GUARDIAN offers a real-time map of friendly and hostile aircraft, connecting UK and NATO (NORTH ATLANTIC TREATY ORGANIZATION) radars and radios to co-ordinate communications between aircraft and the ground. It allows the RAF to dispatch fighter jets to identify and intercept hostile aircraft, or those suspected of being a threat, and GUARDIAN also receives early warnings from NATO reporting centres to prepare the UK for incoming potential threats. The contract will be for the provision and installation of 5 units across the UK, as well as maintenance support (including but not limited to repair/replacement and annual servicing).
