## Summary

The Yorkshire and Humber Police Procurement (Y&HPP) is currently conducting a tender for a crucial service titled "The Collection & Boarding of Banned Breeds, Dangerous & Seized Dogs for South Yorkshire Police". This procurement falls within the services industry, specifically under the category of dog kennel services (CPV code: 98380000). The tender is open for submissions until 19th April 2022, with the contract period starting from 1st June 2022 and ending on 31st May 2028. Potential bidders must be able to provide an urgent dog collection service, responding within a maximum of 90 minutes, along with adequate long-term kennelling and animal care in Sheffield, Yorkshire and the Humber region. The estimated contract value is between £300,000 and £710,000, and it is being conducted through an open procurement method.

This opportunity presents substantial potential for businesses specialising in animal care, particularly those with the capacity to handle various breeds, including potentially dangerous dogs. Companies that offer kennel services, veterinary support, and emergency response solutions would be particularly well-suited to compete for this contract. By engaging in this tender, businesses can not only contribute to public safety and animal welfare but also expand their operational capacities and client base within the public sector, provided they are ready to meet the stringent requirements outlined by the South Yorkshire Police.

## Notice

South Yorkshire Police (SYP) requires a 24 hour, 7 day, 365(6) days a year dog collection and boarding service provision of 35 kennels as a minimum, with the potential for access to further kennels should the need arise. For operational reasons it is imperative that following a call from SYP, the successful Service Provider will collect the dog(s) urgently within the minimum timescale possible and within a maximum of 90 minutes following notification. The successful Service Provider must be able to safely remove the dog(s) without the assistance of the attending police officer as they may not be equipped or experienced in dog handling. The dogs that are to be collected can range from the very friendly to those that can be very difficult and dangerous to handle. The successful Service Provider will be required to kennel the dog(s) for a duration which will be determined by SYP. The duration of kennelling the dog(s) could be long-term. The successful Service Provider will be required to provide adequate and secure shelter, food and healthcare sufficient to meet the needs of the animal in line with the animal welfare act for animals placed in the custody of the kennel. Any specific healthcare requirements for a dog(s) will be agreed between the Service Provider and SYP following veterinary consultation.
