The scope of the project is to retender for a supplier of HFEA licenced laboratory activities to facilitate the provision of assisted reproduction treatments at Kingston Hospital ACU and maintain our ability to function as a successful Transport Centre. Background Kingston ACU performs approximately 350 fresh and 150 frozen treatment cycles per annum. Kingston ACU clinical staff consult with the patient, recommend treatment type, prescribe medications and schedule treatment as well as monitoring response to medications and progress through cycles prior to egg collection and frozen embryo transfer. Egg collections are performed at Kingston Hospital and follicular fluid transported to the laboratory service provider by the partner or an associate of the person having egg collection. Care of the patient returns to Kingston ACU following embryo transfer or intra-uterine insemination. The appointment of a laboratory provider must ensure a high quality and safe service for Kingston ACU patients, maintaining clinical pregnancy rates and live birth rates above the national average, and allowing for the provision of all other related HFEA licenced activities such as the freezing and storage of samples obtained by surgical sperm retrieval and the use of donor gametes in treatment. The provider must allow Kingston ACU to operate within our own policies in regards to treatment protocols outwith of the laboratory service providers own policies and procedures but always within the scope of the HFE Act and Code of Practice.
