BMBC has a statutory duty to make free home to school travel arrangements for eligible children to access their education for both SEN and non-SEN children as outlined in the Home to School/college Travel Assistance Policy 2018/2020. The requirement is for a regular home to school transport service during school term time both in the Borough of Barnsley and out of the Borough, which include daily, weekly, fortnightly, or termly single or return journeys In addition the Council also provides transport to and from day centres for vulnerable adults who are covered under the Chronically Sick and Disabled Persons Act 1970 and 1986. These passengers are generally to be conveyed between the hours of 08:00 and 17:00, but specific times shall be dependent on the particular journey ordered. The Providers on this DPS will be required to provide a range of vehicles to deliver the services, from cars to minibuses.
