## Summary

Nottingham City Homes is currently seeking tenders for the project titled "Bin Chute Safety Works," aimed at addressing compliance issues associated with low-rise refuse chutes in its housing stock. With a total contract value of £400,000, this open procedure tender is active and set to close on 1st November 2020. The contract work is part of a broader initiative to improve housing conditions and safety for residents in the East Midlands region of the United Kingdom, where Nottingham City Homes manages approximately 27,500 rented homes. The successful contractor will be expected to start the contract on 1st December 2020 and complete it by 31st March 2021.

This tender presents significant opportunities for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and voluntary community sector enterprises (VCSEs) that specialise in refuse and waste-related services. Companies capable of providing high-quality maintenance and compliance solutions in social housing settings will find this project well-suited to their expertise. By participating, these businesses can enhance their portfolio whilst contributing to the improvement of essential housing services in the Nottingham area, thus fostering community development and sustainability.

## Notice

Nottingham City Homes is an Arms' Length Management Organisation (ALMO) created in 2005 by Nottingham City Council to manage its housing stock of 27,500 rented homes and over 1,000 leasehold properties. This includes approximately 18,000 houses and bungalows, 2,000 high-rise flats and almost 8,000 low-rise flats 2 / 4 (including independent living accommodation for older people). The Nottingham City Homes (NCH) Corporate Plan 2018-21 places customers at the heart of service delivery. Our goals for the lifetime of this Plan reflect our ambition to be the best social housing organisation in the UK: * To listen to our tenants and deliver an excellent housing service * To make all our estates great places to live * To build high quality, affordable new homes for local people * To diversify our services, re-investing in our communities * To be a great place to work. Nottingham City Homes is looking to appoint a suitable contractor to undertake the Low Rise Refuse Chute Compliance Work. There are 91 low rise blocks in Nottingham increasingly suffering from repair issues relating to the refuse chutes due to age, wear and tear. Little maintenance work has been carried out to the chutes since their construction. In 2017 and 2018 we commissioned surveys to waste chutes which confirmed that the replacement of hoppers and closure plates is required to ensure that current compliance requirements are met under the Fire Safety Order 2005.
