## Summary

The procurement process overseen by Bedford Borough Council for the supply of electric vehicle charging infrastructure and associated services has reached the award stage as of 6th July 2026. This process involves a restricted procedure under the selective procurement method, culminating in the selection of Connected Kerb Limited as the supplier. The contract, which runs from 6th October 2025 to 5th October 2040, encompasses the installation and maintenance of a minimum of 512 electric vehicle charging sockets throughout the Borough of Bedford. The industry category is primarily focused on the installation of cable infrastructure, with additional classifications related to electric vehicles and rechargers. The initiative aims to foster a broad network of 7kw to 22kw charge points, in locations throughout Bedford, particularly benefitting residents without off-street parking.

This tender offers significant opportunities for business growth, particularly for companies involved in the provision of sustainable energy solutions and electric vehicle infrastructure. Firms specialising in innovative energy technologies and infrastructures could find this project aligned with their business objectives, especially those that can contribute additional private investment for expanding charging facilities. By partnering with a forward-thinking council like Bedford Borough Council, companies can enhance their portfolio, enhance visibility in the East of England's burgeoning green energy market, and establish long-term partnerships that could lead to further contracts in similar domains.

## Notice

The purpose of this ITT is to appoint a single Charge Point Operator, to deliver Bedford Borough Council's requirements for a "full turnkey" solution to supply, install, connect, commission, operate and maintain a network of charge points on behalf of the Council across the Borough. We expect the winning bidder to deliver a minimum of 512 additional new Electric Vehicle "sockets" (as defined in the Contract at Schedule 4), of which: i) A minimum of 256 sockets to be located at our required sites as set out in Portfolios 1, 2 and 3 (see section 2.2.3 in this document for further information), with our PS1.01m subsidy to support installations. ii) Further to this we would like the operator to match and extend our investment through private funding with a minimum additional 256 sockets, at our required sites or at additional sites (to be agreed with the Council). iii) The total minimum delivery of at least 512 additional new Electric Vehicle "sockets." To this end, Bedford Borough Council (BBC) is primarily seeking for its required 256 sockets at the stated locations, a charging solution involving 7kw - 22kw power charge points across the Borough-wide network, to benefit residents without off street parking.
