## Summary

The NHS Shared Business Services is seeking consultancy support in relation to the Primary Care 'Workflow Optimisation' Scheme, focusing on enhancing the management of clinical correspondence within GP practices. This procurement falls under the category of business and management consultancy services, with an estimated contract value of £90,000. The tender is currently in the planning stage, with bids required to be submitted via the EU-Supply Portal by 12 noon on 7th January 2019. The contract period is set to commence on 28th January 2019 and will last until 27th January 2021, with services to be delivered in London, United Kingdom.

This tender presents a significant opportunity for businesses specialising in consultancy services, particularly those with expertise in healthcare workflow management and administrative optimisation. Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and voluntary community sector enterprises (VCSEs) are encouraged to participate, as they may offer innovative solutions tailored to the challenges faced by GP practices in managing clinical correspondence effectively. Engaging in this contract could lead to enhanced visibility and growth within the healthcare sector, as well as the potential to contribute to the overarching goals of improving operational efficiency in primary care.

## Notice

The 'Workflow Optimisation' scheme is one of the ways Brent CCG is continuing to support Primary Care practices in delivering the General Practice Forward View and the 10 High Impact Actions. This scheme looks at the 4th High Impact Action 'Productive Workflow' and looks at focusing on managing clinical correspondence more effectively, which will ultimately develop the GPs workforce administrative teams. The volume of clinical correspondence received by practices has increased over recent years and unfortunately appears to be continuing to increase. This is one of the contributing factors that is affecting clinical time and therefore, by managing correspondence and optimising workflow more efficiently and effectively we can look at delivering significant reductions where there are large amounts of correspondence reaching the GP's desks and have potential of 'releasing clinical time'. As specified in the GPFV, to release clinical time will involve time in training and developing the Practices workforce. Developing the workforce will not only help retain staff but also improve their job satisfaction. It is essential that this scheme ensures that the workflow is accurate and has overarching robust governance in place to support consistent coding/updating of medical records.
