The system subsequently responds by shutting down the ventilation system by turning off supply and extract fans. As per Functional Safety standards IEC 61508 and IEC 61511, Pirbright requires this system to be reliable to Safety Integrity Level (SIL) 1. Pirbright expects that the designer will have good awareness of the above-mentioned functional safety standards, and to be able to carry out their activities in adherence to the functional safety lifecycle phases as per IEC 61511.
