UK ETS Service Design and Assurance * The government has confirmed that its preference is to implement a UK Emissions Trading Scheme linked to the EU ETS from 1 Jan 2021 - this is dependent on negotiations with the EU * BEIS has awarded contracts to Trasys Unisystems to design build and test o a UK emissions trading registry with the first functional release to be completed for January 2021, o a replacement system for ETSWAP, the permitting, monitoring, reporting and verification tool for carbon pricing (currently used for ETS, but would also have a role if carbon tax was implemented. * BEIS has established an internal delivery team to develop the requirements, lead procurement activity, manage and assure delivery of projects. * The team is not equipped to provide the full range of service design and assurance that is necessary to deliver this high profile and strategically important project.
