## Summary

The Department for Education is currently in the planning stage for a contract titled "High Potential Initial Teacher Training," which aims to deliver high calibre teachers in England. The initiative involves an employment-based training programme that recruits teacher trainees for challenging schools serving economically disadvantaged pupils. Key dates include a significant engagement end date set for 30 November 2018, and interested organisations must submit a questionnaire by 5pm on Tuesday, 18 September 2018, to express their interest in future contracting opportunities. The procurement falls under the category of education and training services and is aimed at mobilising the programme in Spring 2019.

This tender presents substantial growth opportunities for businesses, particularly those involved in education and training services. Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and voluntary, charitable, and social enterprises (VCSEs) are encouraged to participate, provided they can mobilise their services in time to recruit for the ITT starting in September 2020. The programme’s focus on developing teachers for underserved areas may also appeal to organisations with experience in inclusive education and training methodologies. Interested parties should prepare for potential engagement events following the submission of their questionnaires, allowing for collaborative discussions on further project insights and contracting arrangements.

## Notice

PLEASE NOTE: THE DEADLINE FOR RETURN OF THE QUESTIONNAIRE IS 5PM ON TUESDAY 18 SEPTEMBER. The HPITT programme delivers high calibre teachers, in particular those who might not otherwise join the profession. It is an employment-based training route that recruits teacher trainees and places them in challenging schools serving economically disadvantaged pupils. The contract for HPITT is currently delivered by one supplier on a national basis (England) and covers three cohorts of 1,750 participants on a two year Leadership Development Programme. The programme's recruitment is approximately 5% of overall post-graduate ITT recruitment. Trainees receive qualified teacher status (QTS) at the end of Year 1 and gain a Postgraduate Diploma in Education (PGDE) at the end of the programme. The current intention is that any future HPITT programme would deliver two cohorts and would look to begin contract mobilisation activity in Spring 2019, with recruitment of the first cohort of participants from September 2019 to start ITT in September 2020. See 'Attachments' for futher information. Additional information: Interested organisations should complete the questionnaire attached to this notice and submit it to highpotential.ITT@education.gov.uk by 5pm on Tuesday 18 September 2018. Following the receipt of questionnaire responses, the Department may hold engagement events with organisations to discuss further the feedback received and potential contracting arrangements and delivery models for the future programme. If your organisation would be interested in participating in such events please indicate this within the questionnaire. Organisations interested in expressing an interest as a potential provider would be need to be able to mobilise their provision with the intention of recruiting in September 2019 to deliver training from September 2020.
