## Summary

The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) is at the forefront of a new procurement process titled "Citizen Event History-Analytics," aimed at enhancing their data services in response to the increased operational demands brought on by the Covid-19 pandemic. The procurement falls under the IT services industry category and is located in Blackpool, England. Currently, the project is in the award stage after successfully concluding the tender period, which ended on 24th September 2021. The awarded contract is valued at £1,347,965 and is scheduled to commence on 1st October 2021 and conclude by 31st March 2022. The procurement method chosen for this process is selective, operating as a call-off from a framework agreement.

This tender offers substantial growth opportunities for businesses specialising in IT services, particularly those capable of consulting, software development, and internet support. Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and voluntary, community, and social enterprises (VCSEs) are particularly well-suited to compete given the DWP's commitment to inclusivity in their supplier selection. As the project focuses on developing operational insights by better integrating data assets, firms that can demonstrate expertise in data analytics and a strong understanding of the public sector's specific needs will be in a prime position to win contracts and foster growth.

## Notice

The Covid-19 pandemic has caused an unprecedented surge in demand on DWP's services, resulting in a hugely increased operational workload across the Department. This in turn has demanded significant changes to the way that we deliver our services and how we generate and monitor evidence of productivity and customer experience changes, and use them to try new ways to achieve the Department's outcomes. To help tackle these challenges, DWP's Data and Analytics (D&A) senior leadership and Lead Analysts from the Analyst Community have specified a programme of activity needed to develop new operational insight, which relies for a large part on better integrating existing data assets. No data set exists in the Dept which reflects from a citizen point of view all the interactions they have had across one or many channels, lines of business and customer journeys plus the business processing steps and the outcomes. This means we lack the ability to see agent productivity or customer experience that would enable us to more dynamically manage resourcing or earlier forms of intervention to prevent failure demand.
