## Summary

The University of Sheffield is seeking suppliers for the procurement of radio frequency equipment under the title "2270/DM - Radio frequency Equipment." This tender is classified under the category of goods, specifically within the industry of radio-frequency booster stations and radio equipment. The procurement process is currently in the award stage following the tender period that ended on 20th June 2019. The contract period is set to commence on 29th August 2019 and conclude on 30th August 2019. The total value of the procurement is estimated at £80,000 and the procurement method used is an open procedure below the threshold.

This tender presents significant opportunities for businesses specialising in radio frequency technology and equipment. Companies with capabilities in manufacturing or supplying drive-test analysers, walk-test analysers, and automated directional signal analysers will find this contract particularly relevant. Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) are encouraged to participate, as the procurement is suitable for them, thereby providing a pathway for growth and engagement with academic research projects that investigate urban wireless networks.

## Notice

The Urban Flows Observatory at The University of Sheffield, led by the Departments of Civil and Structural and Automatic Control and Systems Engineering, is intending to undertake a survey of wireless networks using radio frequency technology. This will cover frequencies operated for Wi-Fi, Internet of Things (IoT) connectivity and cellular/mobile systems. The purpose is to provide measurements of signal strength, signal-noise ratio and coverage to assess the likelihood of interference and problems that may be encountered as new systems are implemented to support the proliferation of low-power sensing that will form part of the IoT. Research is also planned that will inform how rapid changes to the urban landscape affect both regulated and unlicensed network systems and consider what steps could be taken to plan for transmission/reception issues. The Observatory is looking to purchase three distinct systems and could be based on different product offerings, possibly from differing manufacturers or suppliers. The systems required are: 1. Drive-test analyser 2. Walk-test analyser 3. Automated directional signal analyser (this could be combined with 1 in particular though the capability to use with 2 also would be seen as a benefit) Additional information: All tender documents, clarification questions & tender returns must be obtained & conducted through the In-tend portal via the link shown above.
