The preferences included for DCC to remodel, purchase and/or demolish the existing properties with the outcome of the provision of a range of new homes. Following the consultation, DCC cabinet has committed significant financial resource from its Towns and Villages programme towards the masterplan. A multi-disciplinary team were appointed to work in partnership with DCC to develop a masterplan and a delivery strategy for the numbered streets in Horden. Durham County Council intends to approach the market to establish a Joint venture or equivalent to deliver this project. This opportunity will be exploring the potential of remodelling of existing properties as well as full demolition and rebuild.
