## Summary

The Health & Safety Executive (HSE) is awarded a contract titled "CRD Humanhealth Monitoring - National Poisons Information Service" valued at £299,704 for toxic substances monitoring services. This initiative aims to establish a scheme to monitor pesticide and biocide exposures in the UK, involving cooperation with medical professionals. The contract commenced on 1 April 2018 and is active until 31 March 2021, with options for annual extensions. The procurement method used for this contract was selective, facilitated through a call-off from a framework agreement, and the award was published on 3 March 2022.

This tender presents substantial opportunities for businesses in the environmental and health monitoring sector, particularly those specialising in toxicology or medical data collection. Companies with expertise in setting up monitoring schemes or those who have experience working alongside healthcare professionals to handle exposure incidents will likely find this contract appealing. As the contract extends into new phases, businesses capable of providing robust data management and reporting services may also have a competitive advantage in future tender processes.

## Notice

HSE is seeking to award an initial 3 year contract with the option of an extension up to a further 2 years, in yearly increments. The main services required from the contractor are: i. To set up a scheme to capture a representative sample of cases of pesticide and biocide exposures in the UK which result in the involvement of a medical professional (e.g. paramedic, GP or attendance at accident and emergency department). In particular the scheme should have the capacity to identify cases which are severe or lead to death. ii. To obtain basic information on the patients in the cases such as approximate age, gender, pregnancy status. iii. To identify information on the incident: including the pesticide or biocide active substance(s) involved; whether the product was for professional use only or for home and garden use; and if possible the circumstances of the incident.
