## Summary

The City of London Corporation is initiating the Markets Co-location Programme, aiming to consolidate three principal wholesale food markets—Billingsgate, New Spitalfields, and Smithfield—onto a new site in Dagenham Dock. The current stage of the procurement process is planning, marked by a soft market testing exercise that encourages contractors to provide feedback on the proposed delivery strategy. Key deadlines include the engagement end date on 16 April 2021, with early engagement information published on 5 March 2021. This project falls under the construction sector, classified as construction work, and is set to enhance London's food wholesale market landscape.

This tender presents significant opportunities for businesses in the construction industry, particularly those with experience in large-scale public infrastructure projects. Firms specialising in market construction and redevelopment, as well as those involved in logistics and supply chain management for food markets, would be well-suited to compete. By engaging in this early-stage consultation, businesses can influence project outcomes and position themselves advantageously for future contracting opportunities with the City of London Corporation.
