## Summary

The South Wales Police is seeking support services for its Representative Workforce through a limited tender for a Support Programme. This initiative aims to address the under-representation of Black and Minority Ethnic (BME) candidates in the police force, serving a local population of 1.3 million people, of which 6.7% identify as BME. The procurement process is currently in the award stage, with the contract period set to begin on 1st March 2019 and concluding on 29th February 2020. Interested parties must have submitted their tenders by 10th December 2018, and services will need to be delivered in Wales.

This tender offers significant opportunities for businesses focused on providing educational and training services, particularly those that specialise in diversity initiatives and workforce development. Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and voluntary and community sector organisations (VCSEs) will find the programme particularly well-suited for their skills, as the focus is on supporting BME candidates seeking employment with the South Wales Police as police officers and community support personnel. Engaging in this contract could foster valuable relationships and promote inclusivity within the law enforcement sector.

## Notice

The Police and Crime Commissioner for South Wales serves a local population of 1.3 million people, 6.7% of whom are from Black and Minority Ethnic backgrounds (BME). However just 2.2% of our police officers are from BME backgrounds. We are working to address this under-representation so that we can better serve our diverse communities. As a result, supportive course placement is part of a positive action initiative and places are only for people that identify as BME or are from 'White other' backgrounds (e.g. Eastern European). The requirement is for the service provider to deliver support to BME Candidates only, who wish to seek employment within South Wales Police as a Police Officer, Police Community Support Officer, Special Constable and Public Service Centre Operator. Additional information: Tender Documentation and Submissions must be completed on the above e-Procurement portal.ITT -71610
