Derbyshire County Council is committed to reducing the harm caused by substance use and recognises the need to provide world-class support services for those children and young people who are affected by the substance use of others. The aim of the service is to provide high quality, age-appropriate and evidence-based interventions to strengthen protective and resilience factors, improve emotional health and wellbeing, reduce harm, and develop coping strategies for children and young people (aged 5-18 years) who are affected by another person's substance use (drugs and alcohol). This service must be locally managed and co-ordinated to ensure that it meets the needs of local children and young people and other stakeholders.
