## Summary

The East Kent Hospitals University NHS Foundation Trust is planning a tender for the potential provision of a new build extension to the existing Kent & Canterbury Hospital, located in Canterbury, South East England (postcode CT1 3NG). This construction project aims to improve access and supporting infrastructure for the Trust. The engagement exercise is scheduled to conclude on 30th March 2022, with the initial market engagement notice published on 28th February 2022. The procurement activity is currently in the planning stage, and while the project is classified under construction work (CPV code 45000000), it does not signify the commencement of a formal procurement process at this time.

This project presents significant growth opportunities for construction firms, particularly those specialised in hospital facilities, civil engineering, and building completion services. Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), as well as voluntary, community, and social enterprises (VCSEs), are encouraged to participate in the market engagement. By engaging with the Trust, potential developers can shape the project’s design and delivery approach while exploring possibilities for adjacent land acquisition from Kent County Council and Canterbury City Council. This engagement will allow businesses to provide feedback and indicate their interest in future procurement activities linked to the hospital extension.
