## Summary

The Nuclear Decommissioning Authority (NDA) is currently conducting an open procurement process for an Economic Impact Assessment, aimed at understanding the economic contributions of NDA sites to local communities and preparing for the effects of site closures. This procurement is in the tender stage, with a submission deadline set for 2nd August 2017. The contract is expected to commence on 27th August 2017 and last until 30th November 2017. The industry category for this tender falls under 'services', specifically focusing on economic impact assessment, with the NDA's primary objective being to support sustainable community development in affected areas.

This tender presents significant opportunities for businesses interested in economic analysis and community impact assessments, particularly those offering services aligned with the NDA's objectives. Small and medium enterprises (SMEs) are encouraged to participate, as the procurement is designed to accommodate their capabilities. Companies experienced in dealing with economic assessments, community consultancy, and strategic planning would be particularly well-suited to compete for this contract, which could aid in expanding their portfolio and enhancing their sector presence.

## Notice

Most NDA sites are located in geographically remote areas - consequently, they are significant and, sometimes, dominant employers; so key to the wider social and economic wellbeing of the local area. It is important that the NDA understand the impact of its activities on local communities, both directly and indirectly through the supply chain. The NDA has an objective of supporting Local Authorities and others to maintain sustainable communities up to and after site closure. In order to better plan for the impact of decommissioning and subsequent site closure, we need a better understanding of the current economic contribution of nuclear to communities around our sites with evidence as to how well placed each community is to deal with a planned downturn in activity and closure. Deliverable 1 - Quantify the direct and indirect economic contribution of the NDA sites Deliverable 2 - Provide an analysis of the impact of planned downturn and eventual closure of sites
