Structured education programmes are an effective and cost efficient way of improving outcomes and are a key part of diabetes self-management when linked with collaborative care planning, screening and medications. Acting early to prevent complications limits Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes impact on a person's life and saves the NHS money. However despite this evidence highlights that uptake of structured education programmes is shockingly low despite recommendations by NICE guidance and the introduction of QOF referral indicators in primary care. Requirements Due to reasons above, Morecambe Bay CCG are interested in engaging in dialogue with providers of evidence based structured education programmes for Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes that are endorsed and accredited by an appropriate body.
