## Summary

The National Museum of the Royal Navy (NMRN) has completed the procurement process for the supply and installation of woodworking machinery for the HMS Victory Conservation Project. This open procedure award, with a total contract value of £75,254, was granted to Markfield Woodworking Machinery Limited. The conservation initiative is part of a vital decade-long project aimed at preserving HMS Victory, a historic Royal Navy warship, over the next fifty years. The installation of the machinery took place in July 2022 at Portsmouth Naval Base, during the final stages of a workshop redevelopment. The award process, initially tendered in March 2022, concluded with the contract commencing on 27 June 2022 and running through to 31 August 2022, making this an opportunity primarily for the goods category within the workshop equipment industry.

This tender presents significant opportunities for businesses specializing in the supply of high-quality, durable woodworking machinery suitable for processing large timber dimensions. The project requires not only the supply but also the installation and potential long-term maintenance of the machinery, offering extended business engagement beyond the initial contract period. The contract value and the necessity for specialist machinery make it an appealing opportunity for small and medium-sized enterprises with experience in providing robust and precise workshop equipment. Additionally, training the NMRN shipwright team in the operation and maintenance of the machinery offers a recurring revenue stream and potential for future service extensions, ideal for businesses capable of delivering both high-quality products and comprehensive customer support services.
