## Summary

The procurement process involves a tender by Compound Semiconductor Applications Catapult Limited for the provision of a High Power Grid-tied Dual Channel AC Source and Load, valued at £140,000. This tender is classified under the electronic equipment category and is located in Newport, South Wales, United Kingdom. The procurement method adopted is an open procedure, and the tender period concluded on 11 January 2019. The contract period is set to run from 25 January 2019 to 23 January 2022, with a minimum project value of £100,000.

This tender presents significant opportunities for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) specialising in electronic equipment, particularly those with expertise in high-power systems and laboratory precision devices. Businesses that can offer innovative solutions for bi-directional power transfer and load management are particularly well-suited to compete. Additionally, firms that can provide related services as part of the contract may find advantageous pathways to collaboration and growth within this innovative sector.

## Notice

The CSA Catapult has a requirement for an AC Source and Load capability of 100kVA. This forms parts of a larger capability expansion plan which will result in a final capability of 300kVA. The equipment must be grid-tied and be capable of bi-directional power transfer in order to minimise energy wastage. The equipment will be used as an active bi-directional load to the equipment under test (EUT). The EUT will typically be a high-power automotive or industrial inverter which may produce unfiltered PWM waveforms or filtered sinusoidal waveforms with superimposed harmonics. The equipment specified will be required to exercise the EUT under a variety of load conditions and potential failure modes. Final installation of the equipment will be in the high-power area of the power electronics lab, which forms part of the CSA Catapult innovation centre. The centre is located in Newport, South Wales, United Kingdom. The Catapult may also purchase additional related services.
