## Summary

Warrington Borough Council has initiated a public procurement process for a "Temporary Mortuary Facility" in response to the urgent needs arising from the Coronavirus pandemic. The procurement falls under the goods category, specifically focusing on medical equipment and related products, with a total contract value of £9,000,000. Located in Warrington, North West England, the procurement is currently complete, having passed through the tender stage, with the award date on April 16, 2020. The contract period is set to run from April 18, 2020, to October 31, 2020, and directly addresses an urgent requirement for temporary mortuary facilities to support the local government's efforts to manage excess deaths during this crisis.

This contract presents a significant opportunity for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) engaged in providing medical supplies, temporary structures, refrigeration units, and related services. Companies that have expertise in rapid deployment and logistics for healthcare facilities would be particularly well-suited to bid for contracts of this nature. Given the immediate urgency and the potential for extension beyond the initial 20-week supply period, businesses with the capacity to mobilise quickly and adapt to changing requirements are likely to benefit the most from this procurement opportunity.

## Notice

In urgent response to the Coronavirus pandemic a need for temporary mortuary facilities has been identified by Warrington Borough Council, Cheshire East and Cheshire Council and East Cheshire Council to handle potential deaths exceeding current mortuary capacity. A suitable site has been identified within the borough of Warrington. The provision of the facility is deemed to be of such urgency that application of the reduced timescales for urgent procurements set in the Public Contract Regulations 2015, especially given current market disruption. Companies have been approached directly to determine potential provision and a company has been identified with suitable solutions to provide suitable temporary buildings, refrigeration, generators and storage, within the required timescale. Initially the supply shall be for a 20 week period, however there may be a need for the supply to continue beyond this period.
