## Summary

The General Medical Council (GMC) is seeking a contractor to provide primary source verification services for overseas doctors. The procurement process, titled "Primary Source Verification for Overseas Doctors," falls under the industry category of medical education services (CPV code 80320000). This open procedure procurement is currently in the tender stage with a deadline for submission on 17th March 2025 at 12:00 PM. The contract period will start on 10th October 2025 and conclude on 9th October 2029. The services required include verifying qualifications and employment experiences from various global medical institutions, regulators, and employers. The geographical scope covers British Oversea Territories, Channel Islands, Europe, Isle of Man, the Rest of the World, and the United Kingdom.

This tender presents significant business growth opportunities, particularly for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) capable of delivering timely verification services. Businesses with expertise in international credential verification, a robust global network, and the ability to engage swiftly with educational and professional institutions worldwide will be well-suited to compete. By taking part, companies can establish or enhance their reputation in the healthcare verification industry, potentially securing long-term projects with an influential regulatory body like the GMC.

## Notice

Business requirement - The International Liaison and Illegal Practice (ILIP) team conducts ad hoc verification checks on the qualifications and experience of doctors, physician associates (PAs) and anaesthesia associates (AAs) where there is a requirement to do so, for example where there is a doubt as to the veracity of an individual's primary medical qualification. - The third party will be contracted to provide these verification services on the GMC's behalf. A successful verification means confirmation from someone in a position of authority at the issuing institution that the qualification in question is genuine, and was issued to that individual by the awarding body in question, on the date claimed. Alternatively, it may mean confirmation from someone in a position of authority at a medical employer that the employment experience the individual claims to have is genuine. - Verification may be required from any medical school, regulator or employer anywhere in the world. It is important that swift responses are achieved, ideally within four weeks.
