## Summary

The University of Warwick is currently at the Award stage for the Automation Systems Demonstrator (ASD) Project Equipment Framework, which falls under the laboratory and precision equipment industry category. This procurement process, initiated through an open procedure, aims to establish a framework agreement lasting two years, with the possibility of two one-year extensions, enabling the university to procure equipment for various related projects. Key items required include proprietary electrical linear slides and cylinders, mechanical fixtures, and control systems software, with a project completion date set for 31 May 2019. The procurement process is situated at the university's main campus in Coventry, West Midlands, and the relevant tender period concluded on 6 April 2017.

This tender presents significant growth opportunities for businesses involved in the supply, design, and commissioning of automation equipment and control systems. Companies that specialise in laboratory, optical, and precision equipment, especially those offering electrical and mechanical installation services, would be particularly well-suited to submit tenders for the multiple lots within this framework. As the university is open to appointing more than one supplier across these lots, businesses can contest for diverse project requirements, fostering competitive collaboration and potential long-term partnerships with a reputable educational institution.

## Notice

The WMG group at the University of Warwick has a requirement for the supply of equipment relating to the Automation Systems Demonstrator (ASD) project, which requires equipment to perform automatic assembly operations on battery packs with reconfigurable capability for other applications in the future. The initial requirement includes a need for proprietary electrical linear slides / cylinders, design and build of a mechanical fixture, and supply and commissioning of control systems software. It is intended that this contract shall be established as a framework agreement with a duration of 2 years with 2 optional 1 year extensions. This will enable the University to call of a series of requirements over a period of time for different related projects (subject to funding). The framework is also split into lots for supply only, design and build, and commissioning and control systems. Suppliers may tender for one or more lots. The University reserves the right to appoint more than one supplier across all lots. This is a project funded by Catapult. The final award of this contract will be subject to funding being approved, if the funds are not approved we reserve the right to not award the contract.
