## Summary

The University of Sheffield is seeking proposals for a contract titled "2683/JN - Near-Field Optical Nano-Spectroscopy and Imaging System." This procurement falls under the goods category within the spectroscopy devices industry and has a total value of £1,000,000. The tender was published on December 1, 2020, as part of an open procurement process, which allows participation from a broad range of suppliers. The tender period closed on January 18, 2021, with the contract period commencing on February 25, 2021, and concluding on February 26, 2021. The project caters to the Yorkshire and the Humber region in the United Kingdom, and it is an important initiative supported by the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC).

This tender presents significant opportunities for businesses specialising in spectroscopy, microscopy, and laser technologies. Companies that can deliver user-friendly and high-performance optical systems, particularly those classified as small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) or voluntary and community sector enterprises (VCSEs), would be well-positioned to compete for this contract. The focused requirements and high technological standards involved suggest potential for innovation and collaboration among suppliers who can meet the multidisciplinary needs of the University of Sheffield.

## Notice

The Department of Physics and Astronomy at the University of Sheffield, with funding from the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC) requires a near-field optical nano-spectroscopy and imaging system operating in a wide range of wavelength from visible to mid-infrared. The system is for a very broad multi-disciplinary user base, and thus requires user-friendly computer interface and hardware for operation of spectroscopy and imaging experiments, and possibility for quick turn-around when changing the samples, and switching between specific experimental methods, lasers or wavelength ranges. The proposed multi-user system will be based on a high resolution atomic force microscope (AFM). It will further include several pulsed and continuous wave lasers suitable for tip-enhanced optical spectroscopy and imaging methods, as well as a suitable light detection apparatus to provide high signal-to-noise detection of elastically scattered light. Further provisions in the design of the system will be needed for its use in tip-enhanced Raman, tip-enhanced fluorescence, and tip-enhanced ultra-fast pump-probe experiments. This is an EU open exercise. The ITT can be downloaded by registering and expressing your interest on the University's e-tendering system https://in-tendhost.co.uk/Sheffield If you have any questions or comments in relation to this tender they must be submitted via the In-tend system, this can be accessed at https://in-tendhost.co.uk/sheffield Completed tenders must be returned through the same e-tendering system.
