## Summary

The award has been granted for the procurement titled "8586 Water Source Heat Pumps in the Historic Buildings and Landscapes Project" by Historic England. The project, classified under research and development services, aimed to evaluate water source heat pump schemes in historic buildings across the UK. The contract value is £18,850, with a contract period from January 8, 2023, to September 30, 2023. The procurement method was an open procedure, and the tender period ended on December 9, 2022. The buying organisation, Historic England, is based in Swindon, United Kingdom.

This award presents an opportunity for businesses involved in research and development services, specifically in the area of water source heat pump technologies, to expand their portfolio. Companies experienced in designing and implementing such schemes for historic buildings and properties would be well-suited to compete for future similar projects. The project's focus on identifying best practices and addressing technical issues provides a platform for innovative solutions and knowledge sharing within the industry.

## Notice

This project is to investigate the performance of a number of water source heat pump schemes currently operating in historic buildings and landscapes of the UK. The project will evaluate the performance of existing open-loop and closed-loop water source heat pump installations installed in a mixture of domestic and non-domestic properties. The project will identify examples of best practice and considerations that need to be made when designing water source heat pumps schemes in the historic environment. Due to financial cost being a barrier towards implementation, best practice approaches will be identified and summarised so that all stakeholders can understand the considerations associated with this technology. The evaluation of this application will extend to those installations where improvements can be made. Technical issues will be identified and shared with a non-accusatory approach so that lessons can be learned and to avoid these issues being repeated.
