## Summary

The Sheffield City Council has awarded a contract for the provision of a Tobacco Dependency Treatment Service (Adults and Children) valued at £6,240,000. The service aims to deliver community-based tobacco treatment interventions for adults aged 18+ and children aged 11-17 in various community settings across Yorkshire and the Humber region. The contract was awarded through an open procedure and will last for an initial 3 years, with the option to extend for up to 2 years. The buying organisation, Sheffield City Council, played a significant role in this procurement process.

This awarded contract presents an opportunity for businesses involved in health services and social work to provide tobacco dependency treatment services. Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and voluntary, community, and social enterprise (VCSE) organisations are well-suited to compete for delivering intensive stop smoking interventions and harm reduction approaches in child-friendly settings. The service requirements include licensed stop smoking medicines and behavioural support to achieve verified quit outcomes for both adults and children, promoting health and well-being within the local community.

It is important to note that e-cigarettes are an age restricted products and not permitted for use in under 18's by law. Stress management, coping skills and dealing with the cost-of-living crisis will be central to the delivery of all programmes, and this will be promoted to all smokers. The service will also include harm reduction approaches including cut down to quit, switching to vaping and temporary abstinence.
