## Summary

The procurement process concerns the provision of Merchant Acquiring Services by Transport for London (TfL), an executive agency of the Greater London Authority. The tender, titled "TfL 91639 Merchant Acquiring Services," falls under the Financial and Insurance Services category, with the contract expected to last for seven years from 1st January 2017 to 1st January 2027, with potential extensions. The tender was released through a selective procurement method, specifically a negotiated procedure, and had its deadline for submissions on 17th February 2016. The services are intended to facilitate card payments for TfL, processing over 160 million transactions annually, totalling over £2.25 billion in value.

This tender presents significant opportunities for businesses specialising in financial services, particularly those capable of merchant acquiring and payment processing. Companies that are adept at integrating contactless payment systems and have regulatory approvals to operate in the UK would be particularly well-suited to compete for this contract. Additionally, firms with experience in expanding services to various transport authorities, including taxis and private hire, may find this project to be a strategic fit, given TfL's interest in potentially broadening service provision beyond London.
