## Summary

The United Kingdom Atomic Energy Authority (UKAEA) has completed a public procurement process titled "STEP WP5 - Repair of RNC Task 5.5.2", which falls under the industry category of advisory services and technical studies. The procurement followed an open procedure and has reached the award stage, with RINA Consulting Ltd selected as the successful supplier. The contract, valued at GBP 36,500, commenced on 6th November 2019 and is set to conclude on 1st March 2020. The project is based in the South East region of the United Kingdom, and the tender period ended on 21st October 2019.

This contract presents a significant opportunity for businesses specialising in engineering studies, feasibility analysis, or technical consulting, particularly those with experience in material deposition processes within nuclear fusion contexts. Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) may find this project especially advantageous, given the nature of the requirements, while larger firms with the capacity for in-situ repair technologies may also consider participating in future relevant tenders. Engaging in this procurement could lead to collaborations or further contracts in the research and development sector linked to innovative methodologies in nuclear energy.

## Notice

The Client (UKAEA) seeks to assess the viability of applying different material deposition processes remotely to in-situ repair plasma facing components in nuclear fusion reactors. The successful Consultant (Supplier) will be selected by the Client to research material deposition techniques provided by the Client, to identify typical operating parameters and the equipment required to apply these processes as repair techniques. The Consultant will then use this information to perform an assessment on the viability and technology readiness level of using these material deposition processes for in-situ repair and define the requirements on the remote handling deployment to apply these processes in situ. Finally, the Consultant will produce a basic concept design for in-situ repair tools for each of the material deposition techniques.
