## Summary

The Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC) is seeking to procure laboratory services to provide testing requirements related to COVID-19, specifically for lab testing swabs, vials, biohazard bags, and PCL analysis. The procurement process is classified as a limited procedure, using a negotiated method without prior publication, and is currently in the Award stage. The contract has a total value of £8.8 million and the contract period is from 18th May 2020 to 18th November 2020, with associated tender deadlines concluding on 15th May 2020. The services are especially relevant across various regions in the United Kingdom, including London, the East Midlands, and the North West.

This tender represents significant opportunities for growth for large laboratory service providers and suppliers that specialise in medical testing and emergency health services. Companies equipped to respond rapidly to public health initiatives, particularly in the face of ongoing and unforeseen health crises, will benefit from pursuing engagement with the DHSC for this type of contract. The urgent nature of the procurement underlines the need for suppliers that can deliver high-quality services under stringent timelines, potentially paving the way for further collaborations in similar future projects related to health emergencies.
