## Summary

The University of Exeter has announced the completion of a public procurement process for Laboratory Services for a Glymphatic Study. This tender was initiated to analyse blood samples collected from patients with Parkinson's disease, focusing on genetic variations and their relationship to the disease's clinical manifestations. The procurement method was an open procedure, and the contract period extends from 2 February 2022 to 30 September 2024. The services will primarily be delivered in the South West region of the United Kingdom, with the tender's closure having taken place on 8 December 2021.

This opportunity presents significant potential for businesses involved in laboratory and genetic analysis services, particularly those engaged in research and development within the healthcare sector. Small and medium enterprises (SMEs) with expertise in blood analysis and genetic testing may find this contract appealing, especially as it supports a critical research initiative with the potential for long-term impact in the field of neurodegenerative diseases. Companies that can provide innovative approaches and reliable laboratory services are well-suited to compete in this procurement process.

## Notice

The main aim of this research project is to identify, in a large cohort of PD patients, relationship between the phenotype (in motor, psychiatric, functional and cognitive symptoms, and sleep quality) of cases of sporadic or familial forms of Parkinson's disease and AQP4 SNP genetic variations as genetic modifiers of the function of the glymphatic system. This cross-sectional study aims at recruit up to 800 consecutive patients with PD across three large Centres in southern England. This tender is for the blood sample analysis collected from the participants to analyse genetic variations in up to 17 SNPs of the AQP4 gene and of genetic mutations (either pathogenic or conferring increased risk) to a panel of 13 PD-related genes (SNCA, PRKN, PARK7, PINK1, GBA, LRRK2, PLA2G6, FBXO7, VPS35, DNAJC6, SYNJ1, MAPT, LRP10).
