## Summary

The Gateshead Council is initiating a tender process for a framework titled "Framework for the Provision, Installation, Operation and Maintenance of Electric Vehicle Charging Units for the Taxi Industry". This procurement falls under the "works" category, specifically focused on the electric vehicle industry. The opportunity is based in the North East region of the United Kingdom and is currently in the active stage. The tender period is open until 18 November 2019, with the contract expected to commence on 3 December 2019 and run until 2 December 2021. The total value of the project is £504,000, and the procurement method is an open procedure that is below threshold limits.

This tender presents significant opportunities for businesses involved in the design, installation, and maintenance of electric vehicle charging infrastructure, particularly those prioritising sustainability and innovation in the transport sector. Small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and voluntary community and social enterprises (VCSEs) are encouraged to participate, as the framework is designed to support diverse suppliers. Companies that can provide operational support and maintenance services, along with those experienced in working with local authorities, will be particularly well-suited to compete for this contract.

## Notice

The framework is for the design, construction/installation and subsequent operation (including maintenance and back office support) of EV charging units primarily for the taxi trade. NECA have secured monies from The Office for Low Emission Vehicles Taxi Infrastructure fund which will be used to fund the upfront 75% of the capital costs of each EV Charging Unit associated with the design and build element of the Call-Off Contract (including the Actual Connection Fee charged by the relevant utility supplier to connect the EV Charging Unit to the power grid). The Contractor will fund 25% of the capital costs of each EV Charging Unit plus the ongoing operation and maintenance of each of the units throughout the Call-Off Contract Term, retaining any income (minus any proposed Revenue Payment paid to the relevant Local Authority in accordance with the Call-Off Contract) derived from providing the service. The asset will remain in the ownership of the respective Local Authority within which the EV Charging Unit is located. This Framework Agreement will be available for use by the following Contracting Authorities: * The Borough Council of Gateshead, * The Council of the City of Newcastle upon Tyne, * North Tyneside Council, * Northumberland County Council, * The Council of the Borough of South Tyneside, * The Council of the City of Sunderland; and * The County Council of Durham Additional information: Documents and further information is available via the NEPO Portal (www.nepo.org) by searching for reference DN441840.
