## Summary

Solihull Metropolitan Borough Council has initiated an open procurement process for providing housing support services for vulnerable households under the title "SOL - Housing Support for Vulnerable Households 2025". This initiative, aligning with Solihull's Homelessness and Rough Sleeping Strategy (2024-2029), aims to mitigate homelessness by addressing core issues such as mental health, addictions, and insecure accommodation. The procurement falls under the "Health and social work services" category and targets the West Midlands region. The tender period ends on 18 November 2024, with the contract commencing on 1 April 2025 and concluding on 31 March 2027.

This tender offers significant opportunities for businesses specialising in housing support services, particularly small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and voluntary, community, and social enterprises (VCSEs). Businesses with expertise in providing housing-related support to individuals and families at risk of homelessness can benefit from this project, mainly by contributing to the prevention of homelessness and collaborating with Solihull MBC's Economy and Infrastructure team, along with Public Health. Engaging in this tender can expand a company's portfolio and allow it to become a key player in an essential public service.

## Notice

Solihull Metropolitan Borough Council recognises the need to prevent homelessness at a much earlier stage and that households may require additional support to manage their accommodation effectively in order to prevent homelessness. The 'Housing Related Support for Vulnerable Households' service will support the Council to reduce the number of households becoming homeless and help households avoid repeat cycles of homelessness. Solihull's Homelessness and Rough Sleeping Strategy (2024-2029) has identified several priority areas as core issues affecting homelessness in Solihull, this includes mental health, addictions and insecure accommodation. The priorities also align with our principles as set out in the Strategy; supporting a partnership approach, promoting prevention of homelessness, being intelligence and data led and seeking to improve life chances and health outcomes. The newly commissioned service's key aim will be to provide housing related support to individuals and families at risk of homelessness or those struggling to maintain their current housing. The service will work with these groups and other vulnerable households to prevent homelessness at an early stage though the provision of housing related floating support. The service will be overseen by the SMBC Housing Team within Economy and Infrastructure, working in collaboration with Public Health.
