The main purpose of the site is to house the buildings which provide the close controlled environmental conditions to house major elements of the BFI National Collection of Film and Television, which is the World's largest collection of moving image film and television. The power consumption at the Gaydon site is approximately 1,500,000 kWh per annum and, in keeping with carbon reduction and cost reduction targets, the BFI investigated the installation of solar photovoltaic cells at Gaydon in order to reduce the BFI's carbon footprint and reliance on the National Grid. We have identified, and obtained planning permission, for the installation of ground mounted PV panels to two areas which are either side of the Master Film Store building.
