The project involves the design and construction of 5.6km of new dual lane all-purpose carriageway, connecting the existing dual carriageway at the Sparkford and Podimore Bypasses, therefore creating a continuous dual carriageway between Mere and the Podimore Roundabout. The project is currently awaiting the approval of the Development Consent Order from the Secretary of State for Transport and this is expected to be given in early Spring 2020. Subject to receiving approval, the project is forecast to commence on site in late summer 2020 and will take around 2 years to complete. Package: KERBS, FOOTWAYS & PAVED AREAS Outline Scope of Works This document refers to the kerbing, footways and paved areas package. The scope of the works is to provide all management, supervision and labour to provide the footpath construction works, including the laying of all kerbing, edgings and paving slabs and footpath sub-base to agreed levels all as detailed in the attached subcontract documentation. A Bill of Quantities is provided along with layout drawings. The majority of the new A303 dual carriageway sits to the north of the existing A303 however the new and existing carriageways cross at approx. ch3300 & ch3750. Programme It is currently anticipated that the kerbs, footways and paved area works will commence in September 2021.
