A large part of this work is advising on oil and gas operations over the whole life time of hydrocarbon fields, from exploration to decommissioning. The team is made up of various specialists, and casework officers who review these applications. Most of these case officers have a background in environmental sciences/ marine sciences, and are less familiar with the day-to-day working of the oil and gas industry and its technical operations.
