## Summary

The procurement process titled "GovTech Catalyst Congestion Challenge" is being conducted by the Department of Transport, based in London, England. This initiative falls under the category of research and development consultancy services. Currently, the process is in the planning stage, with a deadline for engagement that has already passed on 5th December 2018. The programme aims to integrate CCTV systems with advanced machine learning algorithms to enhance incident detection on UK roads and is regarded as a tender initiation.

This tender presents an opportunity for technology firms and consultancies specialising in traffic management systems, data analysis, and machine learning to engage and compete. Businesses with expertise in developing software solutions that enhance transport infrastructure resilience are particularly well-suited to this challenge. The successful implementation of this project could lead to significant advancements in urban traffic control, thereby contributing to overall business growth in the public transport sector and associated technology fields.

## Notice

FlowX has spent the last 12 months researching how to overcome integration challenges with incumbent CCTV infrastructure. They have successfully navigated these barriers with Leeds City Council. FlowX is now partnering with Vivacity Labs. Using its deep machine learning algorithms, this project will develop the ability to automate incident detection from existing traffic management CCTV assets. Real-time incident alerts will ultimately be shared with traffic controllers integrated into the existing UTMC system. These alerts unlock a more effective use of existing infrastructure, enabling Traffic Operators to quickly intervene after an incident to stop the spread of congestion and so improve network resilience.
