## Summary

The tender titled "(NU/1601) Supply of a 'Full Spectrum' Spectral Flow Cytometer with high-throughput sample acquisition capabilities," initiated by Newcastle University, seeks suppliers for a cutting-edge cytometer system. This procurement process falls under the category of goods within the instruments for checking physical characteristics industry. The tender is currently in the active stage, with submissions required by 12:00 GMT on Monday, 12th October 2020. The total budget for this contract is £490,000, and the equipment will be delivered to Newcastle University, located at Kingsgate, NE1 7RU, England. The contract period is set to begin on 6th November 2020 and will extend until 5th January 2026.

This opportunity presents significant potential for businesses specialising in high-tech scientific equipment, particularly those that can provide advanced laboratory instruments capable of high parameter multiplexing and high-throughput sample acquisition. Companies with expertise in designing and delivering complex laboratory solutions, especially those experienced in working with academic institutions and research facilities, would be well-positioned to compete for this contract. The requirement for after-sales support and maintenance further emphasises the need for suppliers who can offer comprehensive service packages alongside their products.

## Notice

The University has recently been awarded a Wellcome Trust Multi-user equipment grant and wants to purchase a "full spectrum" spectral flow cytometer system with a clear and demonstrable ability to measure highly multiplexed fluorescent probes bound to mammalian cell targets, in a high-throughput manner. The spectral cytometer will be housed in the Newcastle Flow Cytometry Core Facility (NU-FCCF) within the Faculty of Medical Sciences, Biosciences Institute. The objectives of the equipment are summarized as follows: * To allow high parameter multiplexing (>35 parameters) of widely available reagents (such as fluorophore bound antibodies) targeting mammalian cells with a particular focus on cell types/markers implicated in infection and immunity. * To be able to detect and differentiate between spectrally similar as well distinct fluorophores bound to probes at the single cell level. * To be able to provide high-throughput sample acquisition in the form of an integrated 96 well (minimum) sampler system in order to meet the high through put demands of a scientific core facility. * To be able to measure cellular auto-fluorescence as a defined parameter and to allow for the subtraction of this signal to improve measurement resolution. The scope of this contract is for the supply, delivery and installation of the equipment as detailed in the Invitation to Tender document to the University, with after-sales support and 60 months warranty and maintenance.
