## Summary

Highways England is currently seeking suppliers for a contract titled "Remote Maintenance Access Service 2 (RMAS2)." This procurement falls under the IT services industry category and is being conducted via an open procedure. The tender period is set to close on 6th October 2021, with the contract expected to commence on 30th December 2021 and run until 29th December 2028. The service aims to implement a secure cloud-hosted remote access system that enhances roadside technology diagnostics and support across multiple locations in the North East, North West, Yorkshire and the Humber, East Midlands, West Midlands, East of England, South East, and South West regions of the United Kingdom.

This tender offers significant opportunities for businesses focused on IT services, specifically those capable of providing innovative cloud solutions and remote maintenance technologies. Small to medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and voluntary, community, and social enterprises (VCSEs) would be well-suited to compete, as the project aims to improve efficiency in roadside operational capabilities while enhancing safety through reduced onsite visits. Companies with expertise in developing collaborative remote access systems and fault diagnostic tools will find this an advantageous procurement to pursue, potentially leading to long-term engagement with Highways England.

## Notice

Highways England is seeking a supplier to implement a new contract for a Remote Maintenance Access Service. The contract will facilitate Technology Operation Capability (TOC) and other key stakeholders such as regional Maintenance & Response (M&R) contractors to remotely access Highways England roadside assets to obtain fault diagnostics, implement corrective actions and install firmware updates, thus reducing the requirement for an operative to attend the roadside. The successful supplier will develop, test and deliver a secure cloud-hosted remote access service to roadside technology which will enable TOC operatives, M&R contractors and equipment suppliers to work collaboratively to improve the availability of roadside technology. The service will also facilitate remote resets, fault diagnosis and firmware upgrades to be delivered in a safer manner by reducing the traditional method of an operative visiting site. Ultimately, this service will improve Highways England's and it's supply chains ability to reduce the impact of incidents on road users through improved communication about alternative routes and queues ahead due to better roadside technology availability.
