The café’s goal is to engage local communities with the possibilities of fusion energy, while also offering catering and hospitality training for disadvantaged learners, including those with disabilities, and individuals not in education, employment, or training (NEET). This is a unique opportunity to get involved in a once in a generation project, highlighting the opportunities of fusion to local communities, including through the multi-billion STEP programme at West Burton, and seeking to maximise the benefits fusion has to offer. BDC, UKAEA and NNBID are looking to collaborate with either a Voluntary, Community and Social Enterprise (VCSE) organisation, Private cafe owner and/or training provider to operate the community training cafe. To operate the cafe and provide catering and hospitality training for learners with a disability, who are not in education, employment, or training (NEET), or are long-term unemployed. This will provide the opportunity for volunteering, training, employment, and signposting, as well as joint investment in community development and social inclusion.
