## Summary

The procurement process involves Kier Transportation - CP7 NWC as the buying organisation, initiating a tender for "Manchester International Airport - Compound Set Up Electrical" under the industry category of electrical installation work (CPV code 45317000). The project aims to accommodate longer train services at Manchester Airport by refurbishing the station platforms to enhance capacity and resilience, tying into broader strategic improvements in the Manchester area. The tender process is in the active stage, with critical dates such as the tender period ending on 27th February 2026, and the contract period running from 25th May to 26th June 2026. Companies interested in this opportunity should note that the work location spans the United Kingdom and broader regions like Europe and rest of the world, and has a minimum value of £50,000, with a total value estimated at £100,000.

This tender presents significant opportunities for businesses specialising in electrical installation work, catering to SMEs seeking to expand their footprint in large-scale infrastructure projects. The scope involves intricate electrical installations, including lighting systems and power connections, which are crucial for the station's capacity expansion. With a focus on enhancing transport infrastructure at a major international airport, companies with experience in complex electrical systems and cabling would be well poised to compete. The project aligns with strategic industry aims, providing potential growth for businesses leveraging expertise in transportation sector developments, particularly those capable of servicing high-demand areas within the broader UK and international market.

## Notice

"The planned introduction of longer train services to the Airport in response to future demand growth will mean that double stacking arrangements of trains as currently used will no longer be viable. Through the project's Delivery Steering Group, Northern and TransPennine Express have carried out analysis which has identified that additional platform capacity is needed at the airport in order to realise the full benefit of longer train services serving the airport. The scheme is part of a package of proposed measures in the Manchester area that are being designed/planned to boost capacity and resilience, emanating from the Cross Manchester Capacity and Reliability Improvement Study. Improving the operation of train services in the centre of Manchester and providing further capacity at Manchester Airport station, aligns with the strategic aims of Network Rail, TfGM, TfN and the wider industry. This project in in Tranche 1 of the Manchester and North West Transformation Programme (MNTP): A remodelling of the station at Manchester Airport, specifically a platform addition or extension of multiple platforms, or provision of a new turnback facility, will be essential to accommodate the planned implementation of longer rolling stock services. The redevelopment of these platforms will enable permissive working of two 6x24m (144m) trains, in two of the four platforms at the Airport Station. This will allow for the unaltered retention of all existing TOC services both originating and terminating at the Airport Station under 'double-stacking' conditions. The scope areas for this package are as follows: * Electrical install ready for Electricty North West power connection for cabin installation * Lighting cable diversion works and any survey works in associated with this * Installing lights on the cabins/storage areas * Lights on the hoarding at woodhouse lane * Install Power supplies to cabins from the MDU * Some minor lighting design to support the above"
